Airpel-AB – Ultra Low-Friction Pneumatic Cylinder with Air Bearing Technology

The Airpel-AB pneumatic cylinder offers an exceptionally long service life and combines linear motion control typical of air cylinders with frictionless air bearing technology, delivering true “force without friction.” This is made possible by a specially designed stainless steel piston precisely fitted into a borosilicate glass cylinder. When compressed air is introduced into the air bearing cylinder, it creates an airflow effect around the piston similar to a true air bearing. The Airpel-AB is ideal for applications in the semiconductor industry, measurement technology, as well as the medical and optical industries. Typical applications include precision clamping devices, positioning systems for sensitive materials, fine force control for holding or clamping fragile components, weight balancing, secure support for vertically positioned masses using linear motors, and precision laboratory testing equipment.
