Airpel-AB - Frictionless Air Bearing Cylinder
Airpel-AB air bearing cylinders with their extremely long service life combine the typical linear motion control of air cylinders with frictionless air bearing technology and thus provides “force without friction.” This is facilitated by a specially shaped stainless steel piston that has been precisely fitted to a borosilicate glass cylinder. When compressed air is applied to the air bearing cylinder, an air cushion forms around the piston, just like with a real air bearing. These air cylinders are used in the semiconductor industry, for metrology applications, and in the medical and optical industries. Their range of application includes high-precision clamping devices, positioners for sensitive materials, precise force control for holding or fixing fragile materials, counterbalancing, and safe support in case of vertical mass positioning via a linear motor as well as high-precision lab test equipment.
